Congratulations to all of you for pulling together this weekend and getting some awesome shiny hardware!! It was our first festival together, and 2012’s Whiplash team feels fantastic! We had a lot of people out there on a lot of boats, and each of you contributed to our success. There’s always room for improvement, but Alvin and I are super proud of your performances all weekend long.
Our mixed team went from 2:21 on Saturday to winning their 500m final by nearly a boat length in 2:15 on Sunday! Not everyone paddled in the final, but every single one of you contributed to getting us to the podium. You all have and deserve the medals to show for that awesome effort, so hang them up proudly!!
The mens team made it to Mens (Open) Division B, and were close in the 500 and 200 metre finals. They were tight races, and we had five ladies on those boats going up against all-male teams. Great job! Our ladies Lori and Jen were on THREE teams, and they have a couple extra medals to show for that. Brava to our ladies!!
Thanks to our wonderful volunteers: Ana for pulling together our delicious meals and snacks, Jen for finding a great restaurant, Aimee for organising our hotel rooms, Hike and Will for the night out, all our drivers and fans, and everyone else who chipped in – it couldn’t have been done without you all!
Next regatta is in Oakville Aug 12! Let’s work hard at our next practices (July 28 and Aug 11) so we rock this one too!
